How to stay ‘cool’

The weather has been relentlessly hot, and it has taken a toll on me. Little bumps of pimples have “sprung” up on my face, and my throat is starting to have that nagging itch.  See la, heaty right? Told you not to eat all those oily fried stuff. All the food sold outside is so unhealthy, yada yada …. I could almost hear our moms complaining.

But fear no more we need to be… coz the panacea may be finally be here!

This Chee Cheong Fun is great fun

Attracted by this unsual Chee Cheong Fun poster, we decided to give it a try. Anson Chee Cheong Fun is situated just across the road from Telok Kurau where we had our anchovied carrot cake.

Golden City Fried Carrot Cake

Braving the intense Singapore afternoon sun (feels like 32˚C), we drove to Telok Kurau area in search of the famed Golden City Fried Carrot Cake. It is said (on various other food blogs) to stand out amongst other “run off the mill” counterparts as it is served with anchovies instead of prawns.

With great anticipation, we found the elusive stall and ordered a $4 portion of their Fried carrot cake.

登登登登…Agnès b voyage

There are branded goods, and then there ARE branded goods. You know the brands have made it when they appear in Harper’s Bazaar, W, Vogue etc. Or have they?

Cova Chocolates!

Look what Snowy papa brought back! An assortment of Cova’s best chocolates and pralines with different fillings wrapped in an elegant box showing Cova Cafè in 1841, from an old painting.

Like I always said…

What goes around comes around.

There’s nothin’ more sexy than a cleanly shaven well manicured callous free paw pad!

Weapons of mass protection

Alas, UV, the common enemy of all women. The regrettable lack of use of sunscreen in my formative years had led to the development of freckles in my late teens. They have since multiplied in size and became (damn) stubborn brown spots/pigments which no amount of (*piang piang*) SKII whitening source could easily remove. … continue reading this entry.

Yummy Whampoa Drive Market/Food Centre

Sick of eating around your neighbourhood? Why not make a drive down to Whampoa Drive Market/Food Centre. And if that IS your neighbourhood, then you are one lucky glutton!

Having heard all the ravs about this hawker centre, we made our own trip down to find that famous Ah Hock Oyster Omelette. It took us a bit of luck to find the stall as it has moved from its original temporary market infront of Blk 74 to its final resting place at the newly renovated hawker centre at Blk 90. And disappointed we were not!
